Formerly placed in the area known as Mal Paso (an Iberian settlement). It later moved over next to the castle, where the present-day town sits. It was reconquered by James I, before passing into the hands of the Borgia family.

What to see

The Paseo de Entrada (walk into the town) and the Glorieta, Arabic cistern, Plaza del Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), Plaza de la Comunidad Valenciana, Santos Reyes Parish Church, Plaza del Olmo, Beatriz de Borja castle and passageway, Calle San Miguel, Calvary, Ornamental Fountain and play area by the Calvary, San Antonio and San Cristóbal hermitages, Iberian settlement, Torre del Mal Paso, Fuente Merendero and the Mina natural pine forest.

Altitude: 350 metres. 
Climate: mild summers and winters. Apart from a valley, it is primarily made up of hills.
