Aqueduct Complex

La Vall d'Uixó

As part of a hydraulic system that begins at the Sant Josep fountain, which is the start of the Major irrigation ditch that led water to the Benizahat reservoir, this series of aqueducts was built to overcome the Aigualit gorge watercourse all while channelling the water for use by the various mills or irrigation canals throughout the nearby fields.

A little further down from the ravine stands what is known as l’Alcudia.  It’s smaller in size and has a single round arch.  It is believed to have been built in medieval times and was recently restored.

At present, this tourist attraction is preserved in optimal conditions and prepared as recreational area for public enjoyment.
