St. Vincent Ferrer Church

Cortes de Arenoso

In the San Vicente district.

The existence of a chapel dedicated to St. Vincent Ferrer is documented at least since 1607 when a legacy was offered for the construction. The new temple and adjacent buildings were built with porticoed areas much like a sanctuary and with outbuildings in the 18th century. It holds paintings attributed to José Vergara although there has been talk that José Oliet contributed.

The altarpieces of St. Vincent Ferrer, St. Michael and Our Lady of Remedies were created by Cristóbal Maurat in 1795. The two sections of the high altar, the pendentives and the glory windows in the main sanctuary were most likely finished around that date.
