Archaeological Museum of L'Alt Mestrat


Benassal

The Archeological Museum of L'Alt Maestrat, located in Benassal, was created in 1978 with the objective of hosting and exhibiting the materials collection of the Archaeological Research Office of L'Alt Maestrat, compiled since 1970.

Installed in the castle of La Mola, building of the XIII century, it exhibits a significant sample of the past of our zone by means of archaeological findings.

In fact, the region of L'Alt Maestrat is presented, from the archaeological point of view, as one of the most fertile and rich in manifestations and remains of different cultures and periods that are staggered between prehistory to Islamic medieval times .

In this way, the Archaeological Museum of Alto Maestrazgo presents remains ranging from 8000 BC to the XIII century.

It exposes thus, autochthonous elements that include from the Epipaleolítico to the Andalusí time.
