Day of the Paellas Беникассим

Benicàssim – Dates: Second Fortnight in January

The Day of the Paellas takes place on the second Friday of this town's Patron Saint festivities, and it is one of the most awaited and popular events. This day, which has such a large tradition, converts Benicàssim into a culinary benchmark for the typical Valencian dish: paella. The main streets in this municipality fill up with locals, tourists and visitors who make and try their own paellas. In previous years, around a thousand paellas were made and enjoyed. To add to the atmosphere of this gastronomic festivity, numerous brass bands and musical groups also join in.

The paella festivity is open to everyone; anyone can cook their own paella providing they request the space in advance.

Due to the uniqueness of this event, which combines tradition, gastronomy, festivities and mass participation, in 2007 it was named as a Festivity of Provincial Touristic Interest.
