Alto Palancia


It is located between the Natural Areas of the Calderona and the Espadán mountain ranges, and almost all of its municipalities offer natural spaces still to be experienced.

The Palancia River, in its way from Aragon to its mouth in Sagunt, assembles this region in the south of the province of Castellón, which has its capital in Segorbe.

It was repopulated by Aragonese people after the conquest by Jaume I, so the Spanish is the vehicular language.

It is located between the Natural Areas of the Calderona and the Espadán mountain ranges, and almost all of its municipalities offer natural spaces still to be experienced.

The river collects the waters of hundreds of springs that can be found in its municipalities.

The orography is according to the diversity typical of Castellón, so in the Alto Palancia the contrast between the more than 1,500 m. of altitude of the Sierra de Javalmabre in El Toro until the 100 m. that the river has in Sot de Ferrer can be found.
