8th Edition July 19th-25th, 2019
International academy and festival of medieval and Renaissance music
ELS BORJA. One family, one time, one legend
Every year, the programmes of Early Music Morella revolve around particular topics designed to stimulate new attitudes to bring us closer to the music of the past.
The music of the Borja shapes the artistic proposal of this edition of Early Music Morella, the repertoires of the Papal Court of Callixtus III and Alexander VI, the Italian and Aragonese music of the court of Alfonso the Magnanimous, besides frottole and songs of the court of Ferrara.
This edition coincides with the 200th anniversary of the death of San Vicente Ferrer (1419-2019), who will receive special attention with a musical act related to the Messe de Nostre Dame by Kernascléden and its link with death and the apocalypses, sinfulness and the eternal condemnation, closely related to the Danza de la Muerte by Morella, whose essence is the core of the medieval thought.
On this 8th Edition, besides the concerts of the Festival and the Academy for instrumental or vocal improvement, there will be many parallel activities to enjoy: guided tours, exhibitions, conferences, Med_Ren jam sessions, workshops for manufacturing instruments... We will pay special attention to social acts for spreading music from the past among the young, the senior and disadvantaged groups.
