Atzeneta del Maestrat

Of Arab origin, it used to belong to Culla castle and became part of the Setena de Culla following the Reconquista. It was given to Blasco de Alagón by James I, passing through the hands first of the Templars, then of the Sanjuanistas, and then finally of the Order of Montesa, founded in 1317.

Economy

Agriculture: olives, almonds. etc.
Livestock: poultry and pigs. 
Industry: construction, sawmills, and meat.

Paisaje

Located in a valley dominated by the Penyagolosa massif. The municipal district of Atzeneta covers 71.27 km2. It is largely flat, but is surrounded by large mountains. Long, cold winters, warm summers. Altitude: 401m. Highest mountain: Nevera 1,194 m. River: Monlleó.
