Pont de la Rambla

Portell de Morella

This medieval bridge crosses the Rambla Celumbres, or Celumbres Ravine, which divides the villages of Portell and Castellfort. According to historical documents, the bridge already existed in 1212, noted under the Mozarabic reference ‘alcantarilla’, or culvert. This hydraulic construction only has one arch, which spans ten metres in length over the gorge. Its upper section is built from a combination of rough stones and ashlars, put in place to repair severe flood damage, such as that suffered in the year 1700.
