Castillo del Bou Negre

Ludiente

The Castillo del Buey Negro or Bou Negre, also known as the Castillo de la Mola, is found nestled on the high mountains on the border between Argelita and Ludiente.

It was built around the twelfth century. It is thought to be of Muslim origin.

This fortified enclosure is roughly rectangular and built from quarried stone. It is thought by some authors to be Roman, since ceramics from this period have been found in its surroundings.

The construction, enclosed by defensive structures, is one of the largest in the province and the Autonomous Community of Valencia, once you take into account the steep edges of the plateau and other standalone sections where stretches of wall are built right up to the top.
