A spectacular Roman arch situated parallel over the ancient Via Augusta. This magnificent 5.80 m tall round arch was built as an honorary monument.
Seemingly an arch of triumph, it’s missing the entablature and spandrels. It’s made of granite ashlar joined together without mortar. Still conserved are the pillars supporting the arch comprised of 14 voussoirs. The only decorative elements are the impost and plinth moulding. Ashlar from this arch has been found in houses around the town.
