Gothic Berga Palace

Forcall

During the conflict for the succession of Martin the Humane of Aragon, Forcall led the opposition to Morella, defending the cause of Count d'Urgell, who established his headquarters in the town up until his defeat by the new King Fernando I. Forcall faced off with Morella several times until it gained independence in 1691. Forcall was the site of intense Carlist activity. It was used as a prison for 3,000 Isabelline prisoners captured by General Cabrera. The Berga palace dates back to the 16th century and was the palace home of the Berga family.
