Cave Paintings

La Pobla de Benifassà

The cave paintings in the Cova dels Rossegadors cave are next to the Ulldecona reservoir dam (municipal area of La Pobla de Benifassà). The strategic location is due to the proximity of the river where the ancient inhabitants cultivated the land and raised animals. Inside there is a whole series of artwork symbolizing scenes of hunting, dancing and witchcraft such as images of hunters in action, archers, goats, two deer and four large wild boars.

The cave art in the Comunidad Valenciana region was declared a World Heritage Site in 1998.

You must call the Town Hall in order to enter (977729051).
