Forn de Dalt

Benassal

A 14th century Gothic one-storey building. The inside, where the furnace is located, is comprised of a single nave with two large stone semi-circular arches. It is currently under renovation.
Next to one of the entrances to the primitive area, the Forn de Dalt (“Upper Furnace”) wall is a part of the remains of the medieval Benassal fortification. This section of the wall is a part of the eastern alignment of the walled circle which encompasses everything from the La Mola Castle to the prison tower.
On an interesting note, the white facade with a sign has disappeared.  It was the only one in the Valencian language in Benassal during the dictatorship.
