If there is one thing that Peñagolosa has, it is forests. Pine forests which seem endless and which fill with wild mushrooms in October. At over 1300m above sea level, these rise up, majestic, guarding the silence that only our encroachment dares to break.
Upon leaving Isabella by the trail searching for the "Pla de la Creu" by the old Collet farmhouse, it will not take us long to be surrounded by forests which completely take you in. We will descend into the Sant Joan camping area, where we take a detour and arrive at the sanctuary behind after having taken in the shady paths.
A continual climb will take us from San Juan up to Bañadera, which will be proceeded by a downward trail from Mas de Sanahuja, with views of the sunny spots. This will take us to the foot of Chodos, where we will start to find our friends again, climbing from there to the cross, in the opposite direction from the way we came until we get to Vistabella again.
